I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! It has taken me a little longer than planned to get back in a routine. I have missed getting to blog! Not to mention, I was busy shopping all the sales! I couldn’t believe how time consuming it was, but I had myself convinced the shopping must be done while everything is on sale. I just knew I could get double the presents for half the price…so I did. Now I am excited for it all to arrive, and show my husband how much money I saved us! 😉
Getting dressed up and going out with my husband is one of my favorite things to do, but I have to put it on the calendar to make it happen! Before kids, I had no idea how much I would cherish that time together. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed it before, but now it is such a luxury. We have to plan, I mean really plan…budget for meal, plan for a sitter, make sure to have plenty of time to get ready, and the list goes on. Because of all of this, many times it gets pushed to the wayside. Then the next thing I know, it has been a month without a date night or anything resembling one. I say resembling one, because it can look different for each couple. It might be a night in…eating take out and watching a movie or a quick bite to eat and a walk in the park. I LOVE going to new restaurants and getting “fancy”, so that is what works for us!
It is so refreshing getting to spend that time with my best friend, and just enjoying each other’s company. I think it’s so easy to forget that relationship is number one in the home. It carries over to our children when mommy and daddy are not acting as one, and yes I have a bad habit of referring to myself in first person (“mommy is going to go get you some water”). Someone in our marriage group reminded us that God created us to be one with only one person…our spouse, not our parents, children or friends. Mark 10:8-and the two will become one flesh. So they are two, and no longer one flesh. So nurturing that relationship is so vital. I highly recommend Lifelong Love Affair by Pastor Jimmy Evans to every couple, no matter where you are in your relationship. You will grow as a couple or even save your relationship with this book.
We are at Imperial Taproom in Canyon, TX in these pictures. This place is FABULOUS! When I found out they were opening in Canyon, I was beyond thrilled. It has exceeded my expectations! The desserts are to die for, and brunch is so yummy! If you have a chance, you need to check it out. My favorite is the salmon. I am wearing these wonderful faux leather leggings, less than $30, with this off the shoulder sweater. It took me a minute to get with the off the shoulder trend, only because I thought it would be a hassle. This has not been the case though! This sweater from Nordstrom is not only a pretty color but also comfy. Roxy is rocking her cold shoulder top with a black lace bralette and her steal of a deal heels from Forever 21. We linked the pieces or similar pieces below!
