We are less than a week away from the big day, Valentine’s Day! If you have not picked up gift for your loved one, I suggest you do that soon. I added a few ideas in the gallery at the bottom of the post! I accidentally bought myself the same shirt my husband got me for Valentine’s Day, he was pretty disappointed when I walked out to show him my new shirt…whoops! On the bright side, my husband clearly knows me well.
I wanted to give a few fun Valentine’s Day date night ideas. My husband and I have done a few at home, because honestly the crowded restaurants can be a bit much. It can be just as special and romantic. Something wonderful for both of you, is going through all your old pictures together. It can take you through the story of your love. One of my all time favorite gifts from my husband was a slideshow to a few of my favorite songs, and the pictures were from the beginning of our relationship to the most recent. My heart overflowed with emotions and love! Then you can share a wonderful meal together, make it something you both will enjoy. I would recommend cooking together! You can set the table and light some candles, just a bit different than the usual. Put away the phones, so you can enjoy real conversation without the distractions. Afterwards, enjoy a movie together or even play a game!
If you want to go out, by all means do! I love dressing up, so going out for Valentine’s Day is enjoyable as well. You can even do a lunch date if you did not make reservations in time for dinner! Imperial Taproom in Canyon is doing the neatest Wine Dinner. Definitely put away your phones for the entire time, and share some of your favorite memories together. You will want to get a picture together, because I mean you took the time to look nice for yourself and him!
Lastly, I want to mention the XO Conference this weekend, the 10th and 11th, with the amazing Jimmy and Karen Evans, John Gray and several others. They are offering a simulcast in Amarillo at Trinity Fellowship and several other locations. You can find out more at xomarriageconference.com! Anthony and I have gone several times, and I cannot even express how much we have grown in our marriage each time. The site says “No matter where you are on the journey of marriage, come and encounter God’s dream for your future. The same God who supernaturally bound you together in the covenant of marriage is longing to help turn your relationship into the love affair He wants it to be.” Please go if you have the opportunity!
My two outfits would make great options for staying in or going out, you could just change some of the pieces accordingly. I am obsessed with midi skirts, and this playful red one is no exception. It has interesting detail, so I paired it with a simple but dressier black top. If you were to ask me, “what is your favorite piece in your closet?” I would reply, “my black Zara heels!!!” They seriously are amazing, I dress them up and down all the time. I’m wearing my Rocksbox gold cuff. I have been using Rocksbox for three months now, and I am hooked. I never want to send back the pieces! The blush colored dress is so romantic! I have actually had it for a long time, but only get it out for special occasions. Rox let me borrow her fabulous OTK boot from Bella Raggaza Boutique, which you can find on Facebook. This Kendra Scott adjustable choker is so pretty, and I am so thankful my hubby got it for my birthday back in November. He picked it out at Thompson’s Gift Shop in Canyon. The earrings are Kendra Scott as well, and they are perfect for every day. If you need a gift for your Valentine…GUYS! this is your place! They even offer a dozen roses in a Coton Colors vase.
Whatever you do, I hope you have a phenomenal time. And a word of encouragement for all you single ladies or gentlemen out there, God has someone out there for you. He hand picked them to be your spouse, and just trust his timing is perfect. For Valentine’s Day, I implore you to pray for your future spouse, and just spend time in the Word reading about our Father’s love for us. Because truly, Valentine’s Day is all about love.
