“I do not like anything in my closet.” “I just need to start my wardrobe all over.” “All my clothes are out of style.” These are just a few things I have heard from women, so I thought about it for a while. I decided I would come up with 11 pieces I NEED in my closet. Out of all my clothes and shoes, I could only keep 11. Scary, huh!? Only kidding, but at the same time the list was not that hard for me to come up with. I originally only wanted to choose 10, but I couldn’t cut it down!
I chose some classic pieces and a few trendier pieces. That way, only a few cannot move through the seasons and years with me. I only have to buy a couple of pieces for different seasons to keep a solid wardrobe. It is much more cost effective this way as well. I decided not to include accessories (jewelry and bags) in this post, but I could possibly do a post on 5 accessories I NEED in my closet.
- Distressed boyfriend shorts
These work great for my days at home and running errands during the week, as well as weekend ball games and family outings. I can easily style them with a tee and cute Adidas sneakers, or with a floral top and my Tory Burch ‘Miller’ sandals.
- White skinny jeans
I realize these may not be for everyone, but I highly recommend a pair! I love wearing them for a girls night, like I styled in the pictures, or for church on Sunday with a pretty floral blouse and my Target sandals or wedges. Plus white skinny jeans have stayed around for a while!
- Graphic tee
Rox and I are the queens of graphic tee wearing! They can easily make me feel more put together, rather than an oversized t-shirt. I enjoy styling them with my black skinny jeans or tights, my Steve Madden slip-on sneakers, and an easy cardigan. For a rough hair day, you can even throw on a ball cap with it! We both dress them up a bit as well. You can add a moto jacket and strappy heels, and you are good for brunch! We did a whole post last month on our favorite graphic tees, so check it out for more ideas.
- Going out top
I LOVE date night, so I want something I feel good in. I want to look nice for my hubby as well! I do not get all dolled up that often anyway. Express is a good go-to for date night pieces. I tend to gravitate to black off-the-shoulder or cold shoulder pieces lately! I made sure to add a few options to choose from.
- Church/family dinner top
This top does not exactly have to be for church or family dinner, but something along those lines is perfect! I have church, meetings, and dinner with family almost weekly, so something middle of the road. Not date night or too casual either, so I would pick this lilac Free People blouse in the pictures.
- Maxi dress
Easy and put together, the maxi dress is exactly this. I just ordered a FABULOUS black one from Vici Dolls. I can wear it with my sandals or wedges, and I add some interest with my fringe earrings. Once again, it can be dressed up or down. For cooler weather, I throw on a moto jacket over it!
- Short spring/summer dress
I love white dresses! That is my go-to for a staple spring/summer dress. It can be worn for Saturday shopping trips or even church on Sunday with a cute denim jacket! I can wear it with my Steve Madden slip-on sneakers or Target wedges.
- Steve Madden slip-on sneakers
I wear these excessively! I have mentioned them styled with several outfits above. They make it so simple! They do not require socks and look great with almost anything. Target has a good dupe as well!
- Tory Burch ‘Miller’ sandals
I realize the price tag is a bit much, but they are one of my BEST buys. I have them in tan and black, and I can grab one with any outfit I have picked out! They have stayed in perfect condition with as much as I wear them. These sandals have lasted a couple of years!
- Steve Madden wedges
These are dupes, and I absolutely ADORE them. They look cute with jeans, dresses and skirts. Wedges are much easier to walk in than heels, especially with kids. The color I went with, goes well with most everything.
My favorite cardigan is ideal over dresses and tees. With the our unpredictable weather in West Texas, this is a MUST! It helps you keep your outfit you had planned by adding some warmth. Dressed up or down…the key to all my favorite pieces!
I linked all my favorites for each one! The Free People top I am wearing is BEAUTIFUL. The color is different for me, but I have fallen in love with it. It paired with my white denim skinny jeans and Target sandals, made for a perfect spring outfit. The tie choker is from Texas Heart Jewelry, and I have it in two colors. That is just how much I like it! My earrings and cuff are Gorjana from Rocksbox. I seriously cannot say enough good things about Rocksbox…the price and selection are the BEST! Yay for it almost being the weekend! We have a busy weekend ahead with wedding festivities for a family member.
